MISSION:

Snapshot Voyager is about my own personal photography journey. I am always looking to try something new, inquisitive as to how it works, and to the end results I might achieve.

Fuji X100 - Colour Film Simulation

An interesting feature the X100 has is the film simulation.  Usually I use standard (or Provia), but during a trip down graffiti alley off Queen Street I decided to try out the Velvia mode and compare it.

Certainly the Velvia mode punches up the colours, but I don't see a huge gain from the standard mode which has strong colours already.

Compared to most digital cameras it roughly aligns Provia to standard and Velvia to vivid, though I wonder if the engineers carefully studied the film's properties and made adjustments, or just created a nice name.

I have yet to try out the softer Astia mode, but I could see it working well for Portraits.
