MISSION:

Snapshot Voyager is about my own personal photography journey. I am always looking to try something new, inquisitive as to how it works, and to the end results I might achieve.

Next Purchase Priorities

Right now I have a few things that would be interesting to purchase, but as always I have to have priorities and be realistic in what I buy.

Pro level FX standard zoom
There are two choices here, either the excellent and tried and true Nikon 24-70mm f2.8 or the new Tamron 24-70mm f2.8 VC.  The latter as had good initial reviews, and is the same or less than a used Nikon, plus adds stability.  My aim is to have an excellent low light zoom, that can also be good with video.  The only problem is that is a fairly expensive purchase.
Priority Rating 8 out of 10.

NEX zoom
- Sony 16-50mm E mount collapsible zoom.  This is the kit lens that comes with the NEX-6, and a collapsible zoom would make it very pocketable.  No need for a Pentax Q or GF-3 when using this with the NEX 5n (see below).
Priority Rating 7 out of 10.

More Mirrorless
I'm always fascinated with mirrorless cameras, and there's starting to be some deals out there now.  For $400, you can get a new one of the following:

-  Panasonic GF-3 with the tiny 14-42mm collapsible power zoom.  This quite a small camera and very useful. Add a 20mm f1.7 Panasonic lens, and this would be a great combination.
Priority Rating 5 out of 10.

- Pentax Q with 50mm equiv f1.9 lens.  This is a truly tiny camera, and I reckon it would be great asa carry anywhere camera.  Also, using it with a K mount adapter and a 50mm macro lens would create some close up stunning shots due to high pixel density, large depth of field and ultra sharp macro lenses.  Priority Rating 6 out of 10.

- Nikon V1 with 10-30mm zoom.  This camera has excellent AF and would be good for shooting kids.  But really I have a D-SLR for that.
Priority Rating 4 out of 10.
